A Timeless Transformation

It is always a pleasure to work on a kitchen with "good bones." This recent project in Worcester featured a classic Harvey Jones kitchen. Despite being 10 years old, the craftsmanship remained undeniable. Originally finished in white, the cabinetry was beginning to show its age, with a decade of family life leading to the inevitable wear and tear that masks the underlying quality of the wood.

My clients reached out with a desire to breathe new life into the heart of their home without the upheaval and expense of a full replacement. After a thorough initial consultation, I provided an accurate, all-inclusive quotation. Clarity and transparency are the foundations of my process, ensuring my clients feel confident and informed before a single brushstroke is made.

Design-Led Decisions

The choice of color is where a kitchen truly finds its personality. We moved away from the safety of white (it was previously finished in white), in favour of a sophisticated, deep teal. This bold choice has completely anchored the space, providing a stunning contrast against the warmth of the oak flooring and the mustard-yellow accents of the bar stools.

Hand-painting a kitchen of this caliber requires a meticulous multi-stage process. Every surface was expertly degreased, sanded, and primed to ensure the finish is not only beautiful but durable enough to last another decade. The result is a smooth, oppulent finish that celebrates the grain of the wood while providing a modern, matte aesthetic.

The Result

The transformation is striking. By focusing on the existing high-quality cabinetry, we have achieved a "new kitchen" feel that is sustainable and design-forward. The deep blue-green tones reflect the light beautifully, highlighting the clean lines of the Harvey Jones design and making the stainless steel appliances pop.

This project serves as a perfect example of why I love what I do: taking a well-made product and, through the craft of hand-painting, making it relevant for the modern home once again.
