Hand Painted Kitchen Stanley, Staffordshire
Our latest completed, Traditional Painter, Hand Painted Kitchen project hails from the gorgeous village of Stanley, near Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. We spent two weeks with fabulous views to the North and North East of the Peak District National Park – watching banks of clouds develop and disperse in the distance… an awe inspiring vista indeed! The project was housed in a stone built cottage property – the kitchen space was quite generous and a new “Moduleo” floor had been laid prior to us being onsite… This really is the ideal scenario; it is always best to have new floors and worktops fitted before we Hand Paint your cabinetry, this minimises the risk of damage from other trades.
The kitchen units themselves were of an oak construction – our clients had “lived with” the look of the natural wood for eight years but now felt that the time had come for a “facelift”. They made their choice of colour, which we had 100% accurately mixed into our preferred paint bases (Tikkurila – a Finnish paint manufacturer, used by some of the top Kitchen Manufacturers Worldwide).
The first stage of the project (as ever) is to protect our client’s new floor and marble worktops with extremely high grade lining paper which is taped down to seal the edges. Then, we degrease with our specialist, industrial products designed to change the state of grease, that is usually evident upon kitchens, to a more manageable “solid”, which we can sand and remove completely.
We remove all doors and drawer fronts from the carcasses and store them on our “Erect-a-rack” modular racking system and go through our sanding process (99.9% Dust-Free). Once complete we apply 2 solid coats of our High Adhesion Sealer/Primer tinted to the same colour as the selected top coat colour. We lightly sand back to leave a glass-like surface which is perfect to accept the 2-3 top coats of Tikkurila Helmi 30. Applied to a flawless finish.
Once dry, the kitchen is reassembled and the protection is taken up to reveal a truly bespoke, beauty of a Hand Painted Kitchen.
Throughout the length of the project our clients were a delight – we enjoyed wonderful discussions covering Japanese language, culture, travel and cycling – it was a complete pleasure to work in such a friendly environment on a gorgeous kitchen.

Customer Review
We could not be more pleased with Martin’s work. He has taken what we always thought was a nice room, but dated and not “us”, and, effectively, given us a beautiful new kitchen.
The craftsmanship is of the highest quality, and we are particularly pleased with Martin’s attention to detail (painting the underside of cupboards because they are visible when sitting at the table even though they are not when standing in the kitchen, sealing between all of the cabinets and walls).
It was also important to us that we could continue to use the kitchen during the course of the two week work and so we were pleased that this was the case - both during the day when Martin was working and when he had left at the end of the day, the entire kitchen was accessible to us in the usual way.
We could not recommend Martin more highly.
