Hand Painted Kitchen Solihull, West Midlands
We are extremely proud of being a member of Traditional Painter; an invitational network of 20 Master Painters & Decorators around the UK – we are very fortunate to look after the whole of the West Midlands Region (Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and the Conurbation of Birmingham).This particular Hand Painted Kitchen project was initially an enquiry through to the Traditional Painter Headquarters and then directed out to us as it fell into our geographical area.
These clients lived in the lovely town of Solihull… our brief was to Hand Paint their kitchen – which had already been painted by the previous owners of the house, in a cream colour. Our clients wanted to make their own mark and weren’t scared of using colour.
The kitchen workspace was protected and the kitchen was disassembled, we undertook rigorous preparation in order for the cabinetry to meet our exacting standards. There is no room for error here – if a project isn’t prepared well enough, it will scream out when the topcoats of paint are applied.
Once happy that the substrates to be painted were sanded back enough and ready for paint, we turned our attention to priming. We applied two full coats of our preferred high adhesion sealer primer (tinted to the same colour as the topcoats) and flattened back to a glass-like finish.
At least two further topcoats of Tikkurila Helmi 30 were applied – the base units being a neutral tone, whilst the wall units were quite a statement blue colour (please see the “After” photographs below).
The shade of blue chosen really does “ping” and contrasts beautifully with the neutral base units… it’s always a good idea to make a statement with colour and this project is a great example.
Our clients loved the result of our hard work – taking a handful of business cards for their friends and work colleagues. Another job well done… we love our work!
