Hand Painted Kitchen Northfield - Birmingham
Our latest Traditional Painter, Hand Painted Kitchen project, was located in the Birmingham suburb of North Field.According to Wikipedia, Northfield was “mentioned in the Domesday Book and formerly a small village, then included in north Worcestershire, Northfield only became part of Birmingham in 1919 after it had been rapidly expanded and developed in the period prior to World War I. The northern reaches of Northfield fall within the Bournville model village and the southern housing estates were originally built by Austin Motors for their workforce”.
A fabulous project – one of our favourites, in fact. Not only for the lovely Harvey Jones kitchen and the very comfortable and stylish environment, but also for the welcome and general “fabulousness” of our clients… they were the most wonderful of people – we have even been in touch following the project; exchanging text conversations!
Anyway, to the project; our clients had decided to do a little home remodelling and shifted a few walls, to give a more open-plan feel to their home, (beautifully done too!), this left their builder to ‘doctor” a few units putting some end panels on that were not painted and not of the same feel as the original.
We were contacted and asked to repaint and give back some cohesion to the kitchen… once our quotation was agreed and our customary lead-time waited, we started the project. Firstly, as ever, by protecting all work-surfaces and flooring then followed on with our degreasing regime.
Our preferred paint system was employed, supplied by Tikkurila, in this case Otex (oil based primer) and Helmi 10 (a matt water based topcoat), two to three coats of each to give the necessary depth of colour and longevity of finish – we were very particular in informing our clients that Helmi 10 is a matt finish that can fall prone to stains, however, they are extremely clean and tidy people and assured us that they would wipe any spills from the painted surface immediately as they occurred… so we relented and agreed – our usual finish is Helmi 30 (30% sheen) which we find to be extremely durable for kitchens.
There are many other processes that we followed to deliver our trademark flawless finish, but here is not the place to mention all… needless to say our dust-free sanding system was put to good use!!!
The finished project is beautiful, we think – Our clients do to; please take a look at their very kind review below.
We would like to thank them for a most enjoyable time Hand Painting their Kitchen and wish them every happiness in the future.

Customer Review
We first contacted Martin in December 2016 after searching online for a kitchen/cabinet painter.
As soon as I spoke to Martin we knew we had found the right man for the job and were happy to wait.
Our kitchen is about 11 years old and after some building work, the kitchen was badly in need of some repair work and a re-paint.
On meeting him, we felt instantly at ease and entirely confident that he was as good as we had hoped. We were still undecided about the colour, (even after a long time to think about it!) and Martin helped us pick a good colour scheme to make the most of our kitchen.
What you don't quite expect is the level of meticulous preparation and extreme organisation. We were able to use the kitchen throughout and never had to clean up after he had left for the day.
The quality of his craftsmanship and skill are second to none, and it very soon became apparent that the kitchen was going look better by far from the day it was first installed. It was an absolute pleasure to have Martin working in our home and we enjoyed lots of diverse conversations and some laughs .
We would wholeheartedly recommend this lovely man to anyone who wants a proper, skilled job done.
