Hand Painted Kitchen Lichfield, Staffordshire
The beautiful Staffordshire City of Lichfield was the location for this Hand Painted Kitchen project… Our clients contacted us and sent through a number of photographs for us to provide a quotation. We turn our quotations around within 24 hours - the project costing was agreed and a start date was set in the diary… you will see from the before and after photographs below that our clients decided to remove a wall in order to create more of an open-plan space in the meantime!We were fortunate that our clients had a large attached garage that we were able to work from, so we set up our modular racking system there and we were able to use it as a store/workshop for the duration of the project.
Wallrock lining paper was used to protect all worksurfaces and flooring from potential damage and all edges were taped down securely. We decided in this case, to remove the glass from the two glazed doors and to remove all door furniture.
Once the kitchen had been degreased and dismantled, we undertook our dust-free sanding regime… all surfaces to be painted were thoroughly sanded back to the bare wood in order to create the best possible substrate for our preferred primer to adhere to… tinted Pegaprim Isofix high adhesion primer/sealer was applied and when dry keyed back with 320 grade Abranet and a second coat applied.
Two coats of Tikkurila Helmi 30 were applied by brush to leave a wonderful flawless finish… new handles were installed and the finished kitchen was “rebuilt”. What a difference four coats of paint makes to an “orange” ash kitchen.

We needed to change our kitchen.
After reading Martin Guest’s impressive website, we decided to have our ash wood kitchen hand painted rather than buy a new one.
Although we had to wait many months for Martin to fit us into his busy schedule (excellent craftsmen are always in demand) he was really worth waiting for. You could set your clock by his punctuality; 7.45.am every morning, and the way in which he organised his work was remarkable.
Martin is extremely polite and engaging with a great sense of humour. He thoroughly explained how he intended to approach the work and we were able to continue using the kitchen throughout the process. The paints and equipment he uses are of really impressive quality and amazingly you could detect no smell to the paint while he worked.
There is a unique advantage in dealing with a true enthusiastic professional craftsman like Martin Guest and it is the advice and support he offers which gives confidence that you have chosen well and that your ideas are worth pursuing.
With his guidance we chose a great colour and new fittings and now our tired old kitchen looks wonderful; brought back to life with such a professional finish!
We are so pleased that we decided to wait for Martin to paint our kitchen rather than paying much more for a new one. He is an excellent craftsman who is well worth waiting for and we highly recommend him.
