What an incredible location – high on a hillside, overlooking wonderful rolling countryside deep in wooded grounds… housed in a lovely cottage, this kitchen was approximately 25 years old and was in very good physical order – our clients had clearly taken care of it over the years.Quite a straightforward project; we employed our tried and time honoured system of protecting, degreasing and dust-free sanding, before even thinking about painting. As this was originally a pine kitchen we sealed the substrate with our preferred Shellac based sealer/primer – even 20 year old wood can and will still leech tannins and resins which bleed through and spoil the water based topcoats. Between the two coats of primer, we sand with 320 grade Abranet to a perfect glass finish.
Once we are happy with the primer coats, we turn our attention to the topcoats; made in Finland by Tikkurila… we can match “any” colour that you bring to us, accurately, in the very finest of finishes.
The finished project is a complete departure from how it originally looked… no more “orange pine” the 30% sheen finish is immaculate and has transformed this cottage kitchen into a light and bright marvel.
