Hand Painted Kitchen Much Cowarne - Herefordshire
We always enjoy working in Herefordshire and who wouldn’t when your place of work is Much Cowarne!? According to Wikipedia; “The village is located in countryside away from main roads, with views to the Malvern Hills and Wye Valley Composer Edward Elgar considered the landscape around the village as a source of inspiration, frequently cycling in the area to visit the church or friends at Cowarne Court.”… If it was good enough for “yer boy Edward”, then it’s good enough for us!The project in hand was a laminate carcase, solid wood door and drawer kitchen, and utility in great condition. Our clients had contacted us a few years prior to the start of this project and then decided not to proceed at that time. A year later we were contacted again to see if we were still interested in taking the job on - as they had thought more about it and wished that they had gone ahead when they had previously asked – of course we would!
The work area was thoroughly protected with our high-quality lining paper; taped to all worksurfaces and floors. The units were then dismantled and degreased and sanded with our “dust-free” sanding system (99.9% dust free).
Due to the construction materials of the units we selected a specialist high adhesion sealer and primer for the first two coats – tinted to the same colour as the topcoat, so as to start building the depth of colour from the first coat.
Topcoats of our furniture specific paint system, (in our clients chosen colour), were applied to produce an extremely fine, flawless finish. In this project our clients decided not to replace the existing handles, so we treated them to a degrease and shine.
Once we had assembled the kitchen and utility units and refitted the existing handles, it was time for the taaaaa-daaaah! Our clients were overjoyed with the results of our labour and handed over a thank you card and two bottles of Prosecco… we must admit to being rather partial to a drop of fizz, so these were extremely welcome!
We will miss our time at Much Cowarne and especially the enthusiastic welcome from Rudi the Vizsla each morning; often beginning hit squarely in the chest – it’s always nice to be wanted!
