Hand Painted Kitchen Bournheath, Worcestershire
This project really took me back to my childhood – when myself and my Dad used to enjoy cycling around the Worcestershire country lanes and villages on a Sunday morning… one of our favourite rides was around the Bromsgrove village of Bournheath and the surrounding areas of Catshill, Dodford and Chaddesley Corbett…This kitchen was housed in a beautiful 16th Century cottage, which had been lovingly restored and sympathetically extended, by our clients, in the village of Bournheath.
Originally, this kitchen was varnished oak; being well made, it would have been a crying shame to replace for an off-the-shelf modern kitchen; disruptive and expensive… our clients loved it’s scale and the way that it worked for them – this is where we came in; we were contacted and invited to provide a quotation for the project of Hand Painting it (the whole process was quick and easy, being performed by email).
Day one, we completely protected floors and worktops in our working area and thoroughly degreased the units. Once dry, we sanded back to the original substrate with our Dust-Free sanding system (99.9% dust free).
Two generous coats of our preferred high adhesion sealer primer were applied to a solid finish, allowed to dry and sanded back to “glass”. The transformation at this stage is massive – it is the first time that our clients get a real taster of what their new kitchen will look like!
Following priming, we lovingly apply two to three further coats of topcoat; Tikkurila Helmi 30, tinted 100% accurately to any colour that our clients choose. Producing a wonderfully luxurious lustre that is hardwearing, chip and abrasive resistant.
When all doors and drawer fronts are completely dry, we affix handles, assemble the kitchen and take up all protection… transformation complete!
Our clients were delighted with the result. Take a look at their review of our work, which they sent through to us, below. We completely enjoyed our time working for them; they were a joy!
